More About HämmerString
HämmerString is a small ensemble with a big sound. Their covers span a mix of genres (literally from Bach to Coldplay!) including classical, new age, crossover pop tunes, jazz standards and amazing Piano Guys arrangements. The duo is a perfect choice for wedding music and cocktails. In every case, they play arrangements that explore the full range of the two most expressive instruments: piano and cello.
Dave Becherer, Pianist and principal contact for the group, has been a committed pianist for over 30 years. His foundation, studies, and experience were cultivated through 20 years of classical piano. David later attended Webster University, achieving a jazz piano performance degree. This added new musical dimensions to an already established repertoire. With over two decades of professional experience performing in St Louis and well beyond, his music has been enjoyed in a wide variety of weddings, events, and venues. He has performed hundreds of weddings and has won awards from the Knot and WeddingWire year after year and attributes much of that success to the growing popularity of HämmerString.
Jake Brookman, Cellist studied at the Mannes College of Music in New York City through a scholarship. Like David, his experience with the instrument goes back for 30 years. He's recorded and played with many groups from Saint Louis Symphony to Trans Siberian Orchestra, and has toured extensively.
